“Even If Your Dog Is ‘Good’, Your Child Is Still At Risk.”

mike-2dogsFrom: Michael Wombacher Date: August, 2016 Dear New or Expecting Parent, Congratulations! Your family is about to expand—or it already has. If you’re like most people, you’re caught between anticipation and trepidation. You’re thrilled about the arrival of your new child and you’re concerned about doing everything right. If you own a dog, certainly some of your concern revolves around him. You’re probably asking yourself a lot of questions:

How will my dog handle this? Will he be jealous? Will he be careful?

 And most importantly…

Is there any chance that he might bite my child?

If you’re not concerned, you should be. I don’t mean to scare you, but the truth is, 80% of dog bites happen to children under five, and 80% of those are in the face. And, most alarmingly, most children are bitten by the family dog.

Has your dog ever been…
  • Exposed to children? If so, how did he relate? Was he shy, suspicious, intimidated, overly exuberant, pushy?

Most importantly…

  • Is your dog scared of your baby?
  • Is your dog scared of children in general?
  • Do you know how to get a fearful dog used to the presence of children?
  • Can he or she handle childlike handling like pinching and pulling and grabbing?
  • Did you know that thousands of couples rehome their dog each year when their baby crosses the 8-month threshold?
  • Do you know how to use slings and Baby Bjorns to help your dog get used to the rough handling a young child will dish out?
  • Do you know how to create safe zones for your dog where he or she can get away from baby?
  • Do you know how to teach your baby to be gentle with your dog?
  • Do you know what to do if your dog is reactive or snappy toward child-like handling?

If you’re concerned about any of these questions, don’t worry. You don’t have to get rid of your dog—you just have to learn the step-by-step system I’ve created for new and expecting parents.

"My wife was six months pregnant and we were concerned about problem behaviors in our five year old lab mix. He had issues of aggression and separation anxiety and we thought for sure that we’d have to find him another home with a baby on the way. Mike helped us resolve all our areas of concern using precisely the methods described in his course. It was a life saver for us. It’s concise, easy to use, and filled with stuff that works. If you’re having a baby and have concerns about your dog do yourself a favor and buy this course. Your dog will thank you for it."

If you aren’t preparing your dog for childlike handing or if you have a dog who’s afraid of children, it’s very likely that before long, your baby is going to push Rover too far. The consequences will be disastrous.

The good news is that You’re in exactly the right place. I can help…

But don’t just take my word for it. I really want you to appreciate the seriousness of this issue…

Recently the CDC classified dog bites on children as an “Epidemic” second only to teen substance abuse in seriousness. And no one is educating parents about this!

“But Our Dog Is Already Obedient. Why Do We Need Your Course?”

Dog Bites and ChildrenYou might be thinking “But our dog is already a good dog. We don’t really need to train him—right?”

Don’t be so sure. It’s hard to know—until the moment arrives—how your dog will respond when her prime position in your family is challenged by a newcomer.

But there’s an enormous amount you can do RIGHT NOW to prepare her for the big transition coming her way. Here’s what I say all the time: You can never start too soon…but you can definitely start too late.

That’s why this video course is so critical for new or expecting parents.

I know it may seem daunting at first to train your dog for the coming of your baby—there’s a lot to learn—but, trust me, if you prepare, the first time when your dog and baby meet will be priceless!

And here’s another key point…

You have to prepare your dog for that critical moment when your baby starts crawling. Once your baby starts crawling, everything changes.

Failing to prepare for this moment is why—tragically—every year I have to tell at least 10 couples to re-home their dog. Thankfully, you don’t need to go through that. Why? Because…

Dogs are highly trainable!

The problem is that until now there has never been a course that shows you exactly what you need to do to prepare your home and dog for the coming of your newborn baby.

Because it anticipates the issues that arise with the introduction of a newborn into your pack, there is no other approach that offers the benefits of the Good Dog, Happy Baby video course.

Good Dog, Happy Baby takes on the real situations, real problems, and the hectic lifestyles that you will face everyday with real solutions.

You’ll learn to apply a balanced approach through principles of positive reinforcement as well as through methods that appeal to your dog’s canine sensibilities.

There’s a science to training your dog and preparing her for your baby.

the best dogs for kids

And let me be clear from the beginning. You don’t need to employ barbaric practices like shock collars. You don’t need to yell at your dog. Intimidation and fear don’t work and they’re not humane.

This approach to dog training is systematic, positive, and respectful. In the process, you’ll re-establish a deeper connection of trust with your beloved pet.

And most importantly, you’ll teach your dog—through a simple step-by-step process—to love and respect your little one.

What’s the secret?

You might be surprised by this, but it’s important to remember that even scared and skittish dogs can get used to the rough handling of children. But for that to happen, you have to get them used to it in small increments.

Among other things, this course will teach you how to prepare your dog for childlike handling. How? The approach for this has a fancy scientific name—it’s called Systematic Desensitization (SD)—and it’s backed by extensive research.

SD was developed by psychologists to help people and animals deal with fear. It’s simple and effective. According to the ASPCA:

Systematic desensitization is a common treatment for fears, anxiety, phobias and aggression. When the problem is rooted in how a dog feels about a particular thing, it isn’t enough to just teach him a different behavior—like sit instead of lunge and growl.

What’s most effective is treatment that will change the way he feels about something. This treatment will eliminate the underlying reason for your dog’s behavior problem in the first place.

One of the most transformative things I teach you in this course is my super simple step-by-step process of systematic desensitization.

Not Convinced Yet?

Are you still unsure if the course is worth it? Ok. Let’s put it in perspective.

Most people spend thousands of dollars to prepare their home for baby’s arrival: strollers, car seats, cribs, diaper changing tables, lovies, blankets, clothes, a nursery, etc.

Spending $39 or $49 on your dog—which is less than a big bag of dog food and less than a bag of diapers—is a drop in the bucket.

The truth is—and I know this is cliche—but you can’t put a price tag on something like this. And I hate to say it but…

It’s infinitely less expensive than stitches on the face and the emotional trauma for your child and your own trauma at having to re-home your dog.

And here’s one last point on the value of this course. I usually charge $120/hour for one on one clients. With this course you’re getting much more of my expertise—completely distilled—for 1/4 the price.

Remember, you’re not just preventing a tragedy here. More importantly, you’re preparing your dog to become an empowering, healthy, and developmental presence in your child’s life.

I guarantee, you won’t regret a single penny of it.

My Life. My Passion. A Note On Why I Created This Course

A few weeks before I created Good Dog, Happy Baby, I was sitting at my desk shaking my head in exasperation. I had just hung up with yet another couple who had decided to give up their dog three months after they had a child.

“It’s just too much,” they told me in tears. “The dog pees every time we pay attention to our baby, he runs around the house and barks at her, growls when we put her on the sofa which he’s no longer allowed on and seems to have generally gone crazy.”

When I told them what they would have to do to correct this situation they realized that with a new baby and two jobs, they simply didn’t have the time.

Sadly they gave up the dog. What was really sad was that the whole situation was entirely preventable had they started working with their dog from the day they knew they were expecting.

After receiving this phone call I decided that the time had come to start building this course. If more people had ready access to this information, I thought, perhaps there would be fewer bites and fewer dogs would be re-homed within a few months of the baby’s arrival.

dog ready for babyWith that motivation, I set out to create the Good Dog, Happy Baby video course. I have tried to cover the most important issues related to bringing a child into a home with one or more dogs in it.

There is no better time to start training your dog for the arrival of your baby than right now. My course, Good Dog, Happy Baby, gives you everything you need to get started on one of the most rewarding and satisfying experiences of your life.

I look forward to meeting you online!
